The summer months are the perfect chance to holiday in the UK. This country is home to some truly beautiful locations but Cornwall is by far the most stunning of them all. The only trouble is that the warmest months of the year also happen to be the busiest.
The Cornish coastline has to be seen to be believed; whether you’re after rocky ruggedness, sandy beaches or quaint little harbours, Cornwall has it all.
I’ve been camping in Cornwall for the best part of twenty years and have stayed all over the county but North Cornwall is by far my favourite, specifically the stretch of coastline from Polzeath to Newquay.
Must-visit places:
- Padstow – busy harbour with plenty of shops and lovely location for dinner.
- Rock – stunning sandy beach, even better when the tide is out. Recommend using the Padstow-Rock ferry.
- Bedruthan Steps – outstanding natural rock formations with National Trust car park.
- Polzeath – coastal village with a vast beach.
- Mawgan Porth – small bay with a beautiful beach and a handful of shops.
- Trevone – sheltered bay with a small cafe/pizza restaurant.
- Constantine Bay – huge stretch of sand linking to Booby’s Bay. The perfect location to witness a Cornish sunset.
- Trevose Head – home to a lighthouse and the Padstow Lifeboat house. Coastal walk looks out on to Padstow and beyond.
All of the above places are easily accessible by car and most car parks are now on RingGo, which for those that no longer carry change, is superb!
